Apple in vast update shocker

The new MacOS X minor version update (10.5.3) is 420mb. That's an hour on a 1Mbit/sec line. Madness, just madness.

Oddly, it is apparently only 140mb for the 32bit MacBook; wonder what the difference is?

  1. It was about 200MB on my MacBook Pro. I believe that there is some kind of comparison with the current system to see if "binary patches" or full files replacements are required, which might explain the difference.

Certainly the amount of time (and disk activity) it took to decide if an update was available would seem to support that theory
