Condoms, US Government distaste for
The US government's delightful website, 4parents.gov, promotes abstinence as the only method of STD prevention, portraying the effectiveness of condoms in an extremely poor light. Since abstinence doesn't work (abstinence-fixated America has one of the highest teen pregnancy rates in the developed world, roughly twice that of the UK), this seems unwise. Could it be that the US government is spreading misinformation which will cause suffering, death and disease epidemic for the purpose of appeasing insane fundamentalist "Christians"? If so, why?I'm also unhappy about its treatment of LGBT "lifestyles". What is that even supposed to mean?
When Human Rights Watch, an organisation established to monitor gulags in the former Soviet Union, is sending you letters about your websites of misinformation, you probably have issues.
As a side note, the only other countries which favour the "abstinence-only" approach to sexual health are in Africa. And one of them has a 40% rate of HIV infection.
